please answer the questions in the textbook on page 14, section 4 a-f. Do not give one sentence answers, but explain them by giving evidence and examples.
a. When do children usually leave home?
I think it's when they want to get independent and try to live alone. Some of my friends live alone in big city after they graduated from their high school. But, other friends still live with their family after they get a job. they always say, "I want to live with my family because I do not need to be worried about money." I want to ask them if they are not embarrassing.
b. How many people live in your home?
Five people. My dad, mam, grandma, younger brother and sister. My family do not really get together. My parents work every day, and my siblings go to school and do their part-time job. So, only my grandma stay at our house. Also, I moved out this January for starting to live with my friend because I thought it was the time for me to be independent.
c. Do you have a head of the family?
I think my dad. I hope so. Because , I think, things goes well with my family if my dad has more power in my family. But, my mom deal with whole money for living, so she might be a head of my family financially.
d. Who does the housework?
Usually, my mom does, but she's working too. So, sometimes my grandma and dad help her. I don't think she can hold everything. I know I should help her more, but I'm always lazy when I am at home.
e. Who runs the family?
Actually, my mom. She treats with all money for living. I think most of wives in Japan hold money for their family. How about in U.S.? When I stayed at my American roommate, her mom seemed to run the family because my roommate asked her when she wanted money.
f. How many rooms do you have to sleep in?
I think two rooms. Does the question means how many gueat rooms in my house? Yea, two rooms in my house.

I agree, I think a lot of Japanese live with their parents to save money. But I couldn't do that. For me its too embarrassing to be living at home at my age. I think I should be independent.
Yea!! Japanese people should think that way too!! I heard American students are supposed to move out to a dorm when they enter the university. is that true?
I live with my family now. Of course to save money is one of the reasons, and in addition, when I decided to go to HJU, my parents were happy because they thought it was safe to live with them. The life might be easy to live because my mother does almost all of housework and I don't feel lonely, but there are also a lot of problems because of living together with them. However I'm very happy, I have to be independent although I live with my parents.
I lived home during college because my university was in the same town! Also, my parents were not strict with me because I paid for all of my college. I worked a part-time job to pay for my car, university and 'fun money'. Mom and Dad only asked that we call if we were not coming home for dinner or staying out late. (no cell phones then) The university I went to was very good, so I did not even think about moving out. I was not embarrassed at all! Good comments.
Wow!! You paid for school and your car!! I'm proud of you. I can't do that!! I heard many American students pay for their university. Is that true? Most Japanese students didn't. And, i think some stupid students think their parents are supposed to pay. No appreciation for their parents. Moreover, they spent their time not to study.
I do not know about today, but there are many loans available with payback schedules as long as 20 years!
